Many internet users in India who have been using the internet since 2000 or earlier have a VSNL / Tata Indicom account. For many users , it was used for both personal and business email initially but later used only to retain the email id.
Most of these users later registered their own domain name(s) and starting using that email for most correspondence.
However, in recent years, Tata Indicom /VSNL has been calling up people, and asking them the purpose for which the email id is being used.
